| Call to Artists for the Dorsky Museum's "Hudson Valley Artists 2010: Contemporary Art and Praxis" |
|
|
|
The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art invites artists to submit proposals for its annual exhibition of work by regional artists. This year’s exhibition—Hudson Valley Artists 2010: Contemporary Art and Praxis—will be curated by Thomas Collins, Director of the Neuberger Museum at SUNY Purchase. Collins will select work from approximately 20 artists and artist teams from the Hudson Valley for an exhibition that will be on view at the Dorsky Museum from June 26-November 14, 2010. Artists are invited to submit slides of existing work or to propose new works or site-specific installations. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 19, 2010.
Hudson Valley Artists 2010: Contemporary Art and Praxis will present the work of artists living and working in the Hudson River Valley who are engaged with innovative approaches to art making that demonstrate how creative practice can operate in service of theory to effect changes in the real world. (See Exhibition Description below.)
New this year to the Dorsky Museum’s Hudson Valley Artists exhibition series is an expansion of the residency requirement to include artists from Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.
The submission package must include image captions, an artist’s biography/CV, contact information, and SASE for return of materials. It may not be possible to review incomplete submissions. All materials will be returned.
Please send submissions to:
Attn: HVA 2010

Artists participating in the exhibition will be responsible for the delivery of selected works to the museum; works must be ready to install upon delivery. Installation of proposed new works will be discussed upon acceptance. Artists will also be responsible for the return of work at the end of the exhibition.

| 2010 Byrdcliffe Artist in Residence Program |
|
|
The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild (WBG) offers two residency programs: one-month Artist in Residence (AIR) residencies in summer to visual artists and writers, and Ceramics Residencies for one to five months, May through October.
Our goal is to provide solitude in community and undisturbed time in which to concentrate on independent, creative work in company of follow artists. Professional recognition is helpful for admission, but is not essential.
The Byrdcliffe Arts Colony is located in the Catskill Mountains, one-and-a-half miles from the center of Woodstock, New York. Founded as an Arts & Crafts community in 1903, it has been a haven for visual artists, writers, crafts people, musicians and theater artists for more than a century.
Offers writers, visual artists and composers one-month residencies from June through September:
Session I: June 1-June 27, 2010
Session II: June 29-July 25, 2010
Session III: July 27- August 22, 2010
Session IV: August 24-September 19, 2010
