The theme of her current exhibit at The Grange includes natural subjects that represent a grouping of still-life vegetables in woodcuts. The nature inspired composition speaks to The Grange mission of serving locally grown produce on the made-from-scratch seasonal menu. flaviabacarella.net
AUTUMN FLORALS | Janet Howard Fatta
Howard-Fatta’s latest series depicts the inspiration she finds in the local Hudson Valley landscape. The tremendous color of the seasonal Autumn tones are boldy captured and displayed in her large scale floral oils. Home Sweet Home - Exhibit Opening and Artist Reception @ Safe Harbors Ann Street Gallery

Safe Harbors Ann Street Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of our newest group exhibition, Home Sweet Home with a reception on Saturday, January 26 from 6:30–8:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Home Sweet Home is an exhibition that explores domesticity and the various perspectives on the domestication of the contemporary home. Themes covered in this exhibition consider not only traditional codes of domesticity, but alternative narratives and gender roles. The concept of home is a loaded topic invested with meanings, emotions, experiences and relationships. It is also a  universal subject which most individuals can relate to and this includes the activities involved in the creation of domestic spaces. These would include creating private or shared domains that afford us a sense of intimacy, comfort, sustenance, shelter, as well as, a places of fear and alienation.

The works on display in the exhibition reflect all facets of domestic spaces. Viewers will find images of people who occupy these spaces; the personal possession or material objects of the home which are functional or purely decorative; paintings, sculptures, and installations that reflect domestic life and the related issues concerning the idea of a home.

For more information regarding, Home Sweet Home or the Ann Street Gallery, contact Virginia Walsh, Director at (845) 784-1146, vwalsh@annstreetgallery, or visit www.annstreetgallery.org.

The exhibition was curated by Virginia Walsh and will be on view through Saturday, March 23, 2019.
